To license IMG software immediately (on-line ordering), the product must already be installed on your system. If you download a product, and it is unlicensed, it will be a time-limited demo version - this is for testing, evaluation, and review purposes. IMG always recommends you download and work with IMG's software before committing to a purchase.
The quickest and easiest way to purchase a license is to click on the "Retrieve System License" button in the IMG License Manager - the System ID is sent directly to the order pad.
Please note that the System ID is normally unique to each workstation.
To Access the IMG License Manager
You will find your System ID on the IMG License Manager. Here is what you need to find:
The System ID is a sequence of letters and numbers (4 sets of 4 characters separated by dashes (16 characters plus dashes)) that indicates the product, version, and a unique identifier from your system. This is used in conjunction with a registered serial # to generate a license key, which is used by the IMG License Manager to recognize a valid license.
Each product and version is tagged with a unique identifier. For support, maintenance, and licensing purposes, the correct product and version is important. A registered serial # (which also contains product and version information) is required and part of each purchased license. Matching the software (product and version) to the license key is managed by using the System ID within the ordering process. This is important because some of IMG software is used in validated systems that require the use of older, non-current versions. Because of license changes, matching the product and version is critical. By using the System ID that encodes that information, the correct license will be issued for both old and new software.
Select the product to be shipped on DVD (Restore DVD), or on a USB Removable drive. You will receive a License Certificate that can be used to license a system when installing from DVD. The USB Removable Drive will have the software already licensed, ready for you to use.
This concept does not apply, as there is no distinct "licensed version" of any of IMG software. There is no difference in the software, the difference is the license. IMG's software uses the IMG License Manager, so the software available for download, demos, evaluation, on CD / DVD, on USB drives, is all the same. When Unlicensed, the software will time-out or indicate it is a demo (depending on the particular product). Licensed software runs with no limitations, and Licensed users can obtain technical support & updates at no charge. NOTE: There are also other licenses available to meet the needs of all customers and potential customers.
